Cancellations are rarely the best solutions, but sometimes things don’t go as planned, and there is no other way instead of canceling an order.
The same goes for Fiverr, there are times when canceling an order is the only option, and if you’re reading this post that means you’ve decided to cancel your order on Fiverr but don’t know exactly how to do it.
Don’t despair, I am going to guide you step by step on how to cancel an order on Fiverr whether you’re a buyer or seller.
So without further ado, let’s dive right in!

How To Cancel Order On Fiverr
No matter whether you’re buyer or seller, I am going to explain the cancellation process for both parties:
Firstly, let’s cover how a seller can cancel the order.
How To Cancel Order On Fiverr As Seller
To cancel an order on Fiverr as a seller, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to The Order Page
From your Fiverr dashboard, go to the order you want to cancel.
Step 2: Click on Visit Resolution Center
Within the order page, click Visit the Resolution Center.
Step 3: Select Issue
Select the issue and how you would like to resolve it regarding your order and click Continue.
You’ll have to select from the following three actions:
1. Extend the delivery time: If the reason for your order cancellation is time, then you can ask the buyer to extend your delivery time to avoid cancellation.
Once you select this option then you have to choose the number of days you would like to add to your delivery time and explain the reason for extending it.
2. Modify the order: If the scope of the order has changed, you can modify the order. Simply, select what you would like to modify in your order and explain the reason for that.
3. Ask the buyer to cancel this order: After clicking this action, you’ll see more options on why a buyer should cancel your order as you can see:
Select the most appropriate reason, however, if you did not find the reason for canceling the order in the following list, please select the last option “Other” and explain your cancellation reason.
Final Step: Add Details & Submit Cancellation Request
The final step is to explain to the buyer why you would like to cancel this order and click on Send.
Your dispute is submitted and it’s now the buyer’s turn to accept or reject your request.
If the request is accepted by the buyer, that’s great but if not and you have a fair reason then you’ve to involve the Fiverr Customer Support team for cancellation of your order.
Furthermore, if the buyer didn’t respond to your cancellation request within 48 hours, the order would automatically be canceled by Fiverr.
How To Cancel Order On Fiverr As Buyer
To cancel an order on Fiverr as a seller, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to The Order Page
Go to the order page you want to cancel.
Step 2: Visit Resolution Center
From your order page, click on the Resolution Center.
Step 3: Select Ask The Seller To Cancel This Order
Select Ask The Seller To Cancel This Order on the next page and choose one of the reasons from the list, and click Continue.
Final Step: Request Cancellation
Once you select the cancellation reason, you also have to explain why you are requesting a cancellation. Once complete, click Send.
That’s all there is to it!
Your cancelation request will be submitted and sent to the seller and he/she will be notified of your cancellation request and is required to accept or decline your request within 48 hours. If he/she fails to do so, the order will be canceled automatically after 2 days.
However, if the seller declines your cancellation request and you have a fair reason then you’ve to contact the Fiverr Support Team.
What if my order is already marked as complete and I have no access to the Resolution Center?
In this case, you should discuss the refund request with your seller before approaching the support team but you must have a fair reason for order cancellation, for example, the seller used copyright infringing materials in the order.
However, if the seller isn’t cooperative and things don’t sort out between you and the seller then you should approach Fiverr Customer Support.
Types of Order Cancellations
When you’re canceling an active order on Fiverr, you’ll be facing three different kinds of order cancellations.
1. Mutual Cancellation: In mutual cancellation, the buyer and seller won’t face any problems regarding order cancellation since both parties mutually agree to cancel an order.
2. Buyer/Seller Requested Cancellation
The buyer or seller can request a cancellation for a fair reason like the buyer can request cancellation if an order is marked as very late or the seller can request cancellation if the buyer isn’t responding.
Once you submit a request then it’s a buyer’s or seller’s turn to accept or decline your request.
3. Order Cancellation Through Fiverr Support:
If one of the sides between buyer or seller doesn’t agree to cancel an order or your cancellation is declined then contacting the Fiverr Customer Support team is the next and last option.
They will manually review the case and cancel the order for you if you have a fair reason for cancellation, explain and submit as many details as possible when requesting cancellation of an order.
Reasons For Order Cancellation
Canceling an order on Fiverr can be done for many reasons, but here I will explain some of the realistic and accepted reasons for a buyer or seller to cancel their active, delivered, or completed order.
- When the order is labeled late, and the seller did not respond within 24 hours.
- If the user has a vague behavior towards the other party or if threats of low ratings or using personal information against each other.
- The service provider included copyright/trademark infringing materials within the order.
- If the user no longer exists due to account deactivation or Fiverr’s Terms of Service violation.
- Seller didn’t provide the required service and marked the order as “Completed.”
- The seller delivers files that are not related to the agreed requirements.
- Seller asking the buyer for additional payments for included work in the gig.
- The seller delays the delivery without any reason to improve the ratings.
- Buyer requests revisions but asks for different services than agreed-upon requirements.
- Seller is threatened by a buyer to leave a bad rating to gain more services from the seller, not related to the agreed requirements.
- The buyer has reported used copyright/trademark infringing materials in the order.
- If the seller uses the copyright/trademark infringing materials but did not purchase commercial use rights.
Canceling an order on Fiverr isn’t a hard and complicated process especially when both buyer and seller mutually agree to do so.
No matter whether you’re a buyer or seller, if you have a fair reason to cancel an order then all you’ve to do is:
- Visit the Resolution Center from your order page.
- Select the issue or the reason for order cancellation.
- Explain to the buyer or seller why you want to cancel this order, submit your request and wait for request acceptance or rejection. In case, if the seller or buyer didn’t respond to you within two days then Fiverr will automatically cancel that order for you.
However, if a buyer or seller declines your request without any valid reason then you have the option to involve Fiverr Customer Support to resolve the matter between you and the other side.

hi, can anyone guide me. i am level two seller, i delivered the project but my client sent me the cancelation request. he claimed poor quality which i do not consider and reject the request. i request him to make the revision to meet his expectation but he did not give me any response at all.. so what the next? if he do not come to the customer support or do not put revision? will fiverr automatically marked completed project in this situation?
Hey Arsalan, I am new on fiver and recently faced this issue.. A client placed the order, I completed it and my client loved my work. There was even a single revision which I completed and the client really appreciated my work and marked order as complete but didn’t review which is fine as it is totally the buyers choice.
Few days after I get a notification that my client cancelled the order and got a notification that due to a debate initiated by the buyer the order is cancelled and the money got deducted. This is so unfair because the order went very smooth, there were no issues whatsoever. Like the buyer gets the work done, appreciates it, cancels the order and gets their money back.. Hi, I received an order but the buyer didn’t completed the order requirements. I had the option to click the “I have everything I need to start” button, but I was missing information. After trying to contact the customer many times without success, he sent a request to cancel the order because “the seller don’t have time to complete the order”. One of my buyers cancelled the order and surprising thing is that I didn’t received any notification for this. Neither I received the cancel request for the cancellation. Maybe the buyer cancelled order via Fiverr Customer Support, the only thing you can do now is to contact the customer support team and send them as many details as possible regarding your order cancellation.
Also, one thing you should keep in mind that Fiverr give high priority to buyer as compared to seller.

Your order was automatically marked as completed after 3 days of the delivery as per Fiverr rules.
However, as you said the buyer isn’t satisfied with your work and if you delivered your order without actually finishing it then I suggest you refund the buyer 🙂
Hello, I’m one of the sellers in fiverr. My clients wants to cancel the order and file for a dispute. If I accept that, does the client can still rate stars in your profile? Also the money from the order, would it deduct to my earnings? Also why fiverr will detact it when the order is not yet finish and the money is still on hold on fiverr system?

Hi, If a buyer requests to cancel the order, then he won’t be able to leave any sort of review. It is always better to cancel rather than getting one or two stars. Prefer cancellation!

It is always better to cancel than to get bad reviews. You can contact CS to cancel the order.
I would say cancel your order through the Fiverr Customer Support team and block that buyer to avoid any issues in the future.
Hi Arslan, Please guide me through this. I just started my freelancing career on fiver. I worked with a client to write his product descriptions. He first ordered me to write 4000 words for,5 dollars and I had no choice. I had to do it as I was not getting orders. I completed that order, and late,r he ordered again for 8000 words in 10 dollars. My mistake, I agreed to that. now I am writing his descriptions, but he wants “explicit” descriptions for a men’s bracelet. Writing fiction is not my cup of tea. I am feeling so stressed; please guide me on what should I do 🙁
If you can’t write fiction, just cancel the order from the resolution center and explain the reason for canceling the order. 8,000 words for just $10 is very bad, don’t overthink and cancel the order 🙂

I as a seller delivered order on time. Seller requested revisions that was not possible to fulfill.
I talked talked buyer and told him to request the cancellation.
I waited and before the revision period ends I (as a seller ) requested cancellation. I didn’t get any confirmation whether buyer accepted cancellation or not.
Now showing dispute closed and status cancelled.

In most cases, cancellation affects your completion rates no matter the reason because Fiverr never wants the seller to cancel an order.
However, you should cancel your order through the Fiverr Customer Support team instead of the Resolution Center.

No, the buyer doesn’t have the right to use the delivered photos when the order was canceled. However, the Buyer will see a watermark on the image preview when you deliver your gig until they accept and complete the order.

I am facing an issue with my client, I delivered an order on time and completed the files with the order after the buyer is not going to accept the order, I thought he will create more troubles in the future, and after that, I contact Fiverr support team for the cancellation of “Active Order” Fiverr supports team said, we can’t cancel it directly, you should contact through “Resolution Center” and through that, I sent cancellation request of order to a buyer, he denied.
In this whole situation, I want to cancel this order at any cost, the order is 200$. But I don’t care about the money, I want to avoid the Bad feedback issue. What should I do? How can I cancel this order? The Fiverr support team is also not going to cancel this order and the buyer is not going to accept of cancellation of the order. How can I cancel this order? Are you asking this questions as a buyer? If so then you don’t have to worry when the seller didn’t respond to your cancellation within 2 to 3 days, Fiverr will automatically cancel that order and you’ll recevie your payment. However if the order is still active let me know or you’ve not received your payment. 🙂

Hi Krystal, Before cancelling the order, you must have a solid reason for cancellation. Maybe the buyer request something that is not described in your gig, so if you’ve a solid reason and the buyer still declines your request then you can contact Fiverr support team.
